Towards a new Manual for Streets 3: what do we need?

Manual for Streets is being revised. This is the first in a series of events aiming to provide a voice to practitioners with an interest in better designed towns and cities.

We will debate the policy and principles that a new manual should reflect, such as inclusive design, and climate responsive urbanism, and the range of other technical and planning guidance alongside which the manual will need to work.

We will discuss the application of the guidance: the incorporation into highway authority street design guidance and adoption standards,  and the implementation by professionals in new schemes.
