Newhall is a development that combines the best practice in housing provision, sustainability and landscape design with architecture of a distinctly high quality. Designed for client Bellway Homes in conjunction with landowners Newhall Projects ltd., the aim is to move away from generic volume housing and create a project that harnesses the value of carefully considered design to build a new neighbourhood.

Continuing the theme of design excellence established in Phase 1 of the development, the second phase of the project – designed by Sheppard Robson - will create 239 dwellings, forming a new community positioned to the east of central Harlow in Essex.

In order to deliver a varied architectural language, Sheppard Robson’s scheme creates 11 different housing types, using a controlled palette of materials – characterised by a range of different style bricks, slates and timbers - that responds to the numerous local design guides. The aim is to create a sense of cohesion between architectural styles whilst varying the materials, style and sizes of houses. The range of the designs caters for a wide demographic to help build an inclusive neighbourhood and also creates a stimulating and interesting streetscape.
