Former Vicker's Tank Factory, Leeds

Once a large tank factory providing jobs for many in this part of the city, the site has stood empty and derelict for a number of years. Now forming part of the East Leeds Urban Extension, the site at Crossgates, represents one of the first major housing sites to be bought forward as part of this major expansion of Leeds.

Turley was the lead integrated urban design and planning consultant tasked with bringing forward this strategic brownfield site on the edge of the urban footprint.

Our Design team was responsible for the production of a comprehensive Design and Access Statement including Design Code, to support a hybrid application for the site. This included a detailed analysis of the first 100 new homes of the development, as well as outline consent for the remaining 400 homes.
