This webinar explores the latest developments in sustainable water management so that both engineers and designers can work together.

Well designed water management infrastructure can greatly add to the quality of life and development value, as well as provide an enhanced habitat for wildlife. But there are also challenges:

• In some areas, development is being restricted by nutrient overload,
• In other areas, development is held back by a lack of water supply. It can take a decade or more to build a new reservoir.
• Pollution of watercourses caused by combined sewer overflows and increased run-off and greater effluent volumes has become a national scandal.
• Climate change will lead to more severe extremes, including substantially increased pluvial and fluvial flooding, making the design of attenuation schemes of vital importance in new development.

This is the second webinar in our series that brings together urban design and engineering. We think there is a need to foster collaboration and communication to ensure we are delivering the places that all would like to see. One aspect involves bringing engineering solutions closer to the designers so that they are informed and can ask clients and teams the right questions, and that integrated designs are developed early on.

A second goal is to explain how different disciplines work and explore how collaboration can be improved.
