If you have been browsing through some recent publications on architecture, you may have noticed 'Housing Atlas: Europe - 20th Century' authoured by Pierini, Swenarton, van Gemeren and Espegel.
It's a large format book offering plans, layouts, elevations and photographs of architectural schemes both in the UK and Europe showing the variety of design answers to urban density in different situations. One of the authors: Dirk van Gemeren, has agreed to talk to us about the publication. Dirk van Gameren is the Professor of housing design and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.
Dirk's presentation will focus on a number of projects documented in the atlas, with a focus on the relation between housing design and urban structure and how this relation changed and developed over time in the 20th century.
