Planning, Transport and a little Philosophy - An evening with Andreas Markides and Rob Cowan
Join Andreas Markides as he talks to Rob Cowan and shares the lessons he has learned about leadership and life, that are included in his new book...URBAN MYTHS.
The book brings together two of Andreas’ passions: his experiences over 40 years working in the Built Environment profession, and his passion for Greek Myths!
The two subjects may not have an obvious connection but, through exploration of stories from Homer, Herodotus, Plato, Sophocles and many more, Andreas concludes that there are a huge number of similarities and that stories from thousands years ago still resonate today.
Greed, the pursuit of happiness, hubris, our relationship to the environment and nature, the way we work, the way we build cities and generally the way we conduct our lives -all these themes are eternal.
This online "fireside" chat with Rob Cowan will explore all these themes and try to identify some high-level principles that permeate our work as planners, urbanists, architects and highway engineers.
