Designing Change – Confidence, Liberalism, and Urban Planning in the 21st Century
Political and economic change is creating huge uncertainties for European and American society. Uncontrolled neoliberalism seems to reserve most of the markets benefits to a lucky few. What are the consequences for the built environment? To what extent are any of these questions design-related? Can city-making professionals re-establish confidence through new urban forms, practices and processes?
Please join us on the 16 of April at 6.30pm at the AECOM offices in Aldgate for an unpartisan and interdisciplinary discussion.
Speakers include:
- Dennis Pieprz Principal of Sasaki Associates, Boston
- Richard Meier Developer, London
- Christopher Choa AECOM (Vice President), London
Host and moderator Eric Firley (University of Miami School of Architecture) will also introduce his new publication: Designing Change: Professional Mutations in Urban Design (1980-2020). Book signing at the end of the event.
