Inclusive Cycling Policy and Infrastructure: Could new cycling infrastructure plans further exclude disabled cyclists?

Wednesday 12 February 2014 - 18:30 to 20:30
University of Westminster‎, 35 Marylebone Road, London, NW1 5LS

As we push for increased segregation of cyclists through infrastructure changes, more cycle parking at stations, traffic calming measures on quietways etc we could very easily, inadvertently, be creating new barriers for disabled cyclists.

This is totally avoidable though! The London Inclusive Cycling Forum (coordinated by Wheels for Wellbeing) is developing a series of key principles which, if applied, will ensure that instead of excluding disabled and older cyclists (as well as cargo cyclists) London becomes the most inclusive cycling city in the world, where everyone who wants to cycle does so from their younger age and into their older years, whatever life has dealt them!

The London Inclusive Cycling Forum is delivering the LCCs policy forum seminar on February 12th and you are warmly invited to attend to hear of these developments and join in the debate on what an inclusive cycling city means. Disabled cyclists will be speaking of their experience of cycling, of what stops them cycling more, of what changes would radically transform their cycling lives. Speakers will outline the key principles of inclusive cycling and there will be a short Q&A. Wider policy implications will be discussed.

Your contribution to this debate would be appreciated.

The seminar is free to attend but please book your place in advance.
