Safe liveable streets for the 21st Century - design - technology - liability

This lecture will take a hard and wide-ranging look at how our streets are performing from the perspectives of public health, road safety, noise, air pollution, active travel, social contact, community resilience, and economics; it will cover the latest developments in design and technology and management which could transform the way streets serve society; and overview the legal duties and responsibilities of designers and managers.

Robert Huxford is Director of the Urban Design Group, and co-author of the UK Guide on HIghway Risk and Liability Claims; and wrote the Engineering Council's Vision for Transport 2020.
Part of the 'Urban Design Evenings' Series at Nottingham Trent University, the event offers the opportunity to hear inspiring speakers share their experiences and to discuss and explore ideas on how to create better places.
Sessions are open to students, practicing professionals in both the public and private sector, and the general public to help raise awareness of the value of urban design.

The evenings are free of charge with no booking required. Recognised Practitioners in Urban Design who attend the entire programme will be entitled to claim one full day of Continued Professional Development and will be provided with a certificate of attendance on request.

Access to Newton Building on Goldsmith Street, a short walk from the Nottingham Trent University tram stop.
