UDG Film Night: The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces

Thursday 5 January 2012 - 18:30
The Gallery, 70 Cowcross Street, London EC1M 6EJ

The 1988 film by William H. Whyte, companion to his 1980 book of the same name, is a seminal work in the study of human behaviour in urban settings, and forms the basis for the ongoing work of the Project for Public Spaces in New York. This evening will begin with a screening of the film (approx. 60mins) followed by a discussion session on what it tells us, and if its conclusions are as applicable today as they were a quarter of a century ago when they were first made.
