Design Commission for Wales Autumn Seminar Series 2012

Friday 14 September 2012 - 9:30
St David’s Hotel, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff CF10 5SD

MOVING - LIVING - LEARNING

Matters of transport, housing delivery and the quality of our education estate are vital and current issues for Wales. The Welsh Government is wrestling with significant strains on budget priorities and has set out a Housing White Paper and the Wales Infrastructure Investment Plan in the context of an ambitious legislative programme.

The need to influence the transport debate and consider our hubs and interchanges as more than engineering projects; our homes as more than housing targets and our learning environments as fit for 21st century learning and teaching practice is pressing.

In three consecutive seminars throughout September 2012 the Design Commission for Wales and its partners will examine the context and challenge for all these areas. We will identify opportunities and provide inspiration for professionals and decisions makers. Bringing international experience and expertise to bear on the topics the series will be challenging, stimulating and inspirational.

Supported by the Welsh Government and in association with the Institute of Welsh Affairs, Urban Initiatives and HASSELL, we hope that the seminar series will inspire debate through examining the context and challenge of delivering design quality through Moving:Living:Learning in Wales.

The seminars take place 09.30 - 16:00 on Fridaysin September
