We have some great speakers lined up to give an overview of how landscape architecture, sustainable design and natural ecosystems can be brought together in practical and effective ways.

Andy Goldring from The Permaculture Association will start the evening off with an overview of what permaculture is and show us how permaculture principles have been successfully applied to landscape projects. A great environment, good for living, food production and wildlife...... http://www.permaculture.org.uk/

Terry Smithson from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will explain their Living Landscapes project, a fantastic initiative for the region, and show how all landscape architects can contribute to the future well-being of our ecosystems, from big picture to fine detail. Get your skates on landscape architects because ecologists are making it happen. http://www.ywt.org.uk/living_landscapes.php

Now that you know about the big picture where do you get the plants? Martin Rowland from Miresbeck Nursery will explain how they produce Yorkshire provenance wildflowers, show what is available and suggest a 'starter pack' of easy to grow but effective species to get you on the road. You will also find out that this is no ordinary nursery, growing plants can seriously improve people's quality of life .... Martin and his helpers will also be bringing a range of their wildflower plants for sale on the evening, so you can put the theory into practice straightaway. http://www.miresbeck.co.uk/
