Peter Garitsis

Peter is a Principal Urban Design Officer at Cheltenham Borough Council with over 20 years experience in urban design, placemaking and strategic planning.

Peter specialises in delivering high-quality places through design policy, masterplanning, design coding, development management, public realm strategies and stakeholder engagement. He leads and supports a wide range of projects, including the preparation of design codes, strategic planning policy and public realm frameworks, while negotiating better quality outcomes on major planning applications and development proposals. He is committed to improving design quality through evidence-based planning, collaborative working and the application of national best practice.

Peter is a Recognised Practitioner of the Urban Design Group and a former Associate Expert for the Design Council. He holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and a Masters in City Planning & Urban Design from the University of Cape Town.
