Mohammad Amjar

I’m a Principal Planning and Visualisation Consultant at Mott MacDonald, with a background in architecture and a PhD in placemaking and public spaces. My work sits at the intersection of spatial design, community engagement, and visual communication—focused on shaping places that are inclusive, meaningful, and future-ready.

I support and lead projects across masterplanning, public realm, active travel, and regeneration, often working on complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives where clarity of vision and communication is key. I take a place-led, collaborative approach—grounded in research, responsive to local context, and shaped by the people who use and live in those spaces.

A core part of my practice is making ideas visible, engaging, and easy to understand. I use advanced visual communication methods to test design options, communicate intent, and support better conversations between clients, communities, and design teams. This helps bridge the gap between strategy and experience—ensuring proposals are not only well-designed, but also well-understood and deliverable.

Whether guiding early-stage thinking, developing design strategies, or producing visual narratives that bring projects to life, I care deeply about the social value of design. I believe in places that reflect identity, support wellbeing, and offer quality in the everyday—and in the role of good design as a tool for positive change.

I enjoy collaborating with organisations and communities who are passionate about shaping better places—and welcome opportunities to contribute to projects where design can unlock lasting value.
