Jim Fox
Jim Fox is an urban designer, planner and regeneration specialist with over 30 years experience in the public, private and third sectors. He is Director of Jim Fox Placemaking, a High Streets Task Force Expert and freelance consultant collaborating with Hyas and Gillespies. Previous experience includes positions with Taylor Young, Salford City Council, Groundwork Trust and Urbed. Clients include Carlisle City Council and Homes England, Keepmoat and Pilkington Glass, Sheffield Hallam University and Riverside Housing Association.
Jim has championed design, led projects and built consensus in the fields of high street transformation, garden communities and estate regeneration. He understands both strategy and delivery, having seen masterplans, design codes and development frameworks through to delivery.
Design and planning skills are suppoorted by a recognised track record in generating consensus around complex schemes and initiatives. Projects have been promoted as best practice by Homes England, the RTPI and Local Government Association, including the emerging St Cuthbert's Garden Village Carlisle, ongoing transformation at Northallerton high street and housing led regeneration at Leicester Waterside. Capacity building, awareness raising and training is a key aspect of Jim's approach. Experience includes design workshops with Sheffield Hallam University, planning seminars with the RTPI and placemaking sessions with Oldham MBC officers.
