Hamish Kilford-Brown
Most recently, Hamish was a Partner of Urban Design at Pollard Thomas Edwards where he spent 16 years’ as a creative architect and urban designer, developing a wealth of expertise across diverse arenas. Hamish was involved with the management and running of the practice, from new business, appointments, finance and resourcing, and human resources, to a member of the knowledge hub. He championed high quality design across the practice through design reviews and presentations.
He is a passionate advocate for integrated design and technical delivery, leading projects with a strong concept and narrative through to a successful solution. As a lateral thinker, he demonstrates the ability to objectively consider technical and theoretical positions to achieve the desired outcomes. He has an inclusive management style and a supportive hands-on approach, leading teams to deliver exceptional projects, acting as trusted advisor to his clients, and delivering solutions with maximum impact in any given context.
With over 30 years’ experience in the residential, mixed-use and regeneration sectors, he has designed and delivered a series of successful projects, ranging from large-scale masterplans to regeneration projects. He imaginatively seeks ways to create a sense of place and integrate homes alongside creative workplaces, industrial, leisure, culture and education.
In New Zealand, Hamish was a cofounder and leader of an innovative urban design and architectural practice with a focus on sustainability and community development, including new town settlements, leisure, 3rd age, housing, hospitality and tourism. He also ran his own practice designing sustainable bespoke homes in sensitive environments.
