Edwin England
Thanks for visiting my Recognised Practitioner profile.
I'm responsible for Urban Design and Communities Engagement at DHA Architecture, an architectural consultancy which specialises in planning and designing residential and mixed-use developments for major housebuilders. Specifically: I'm experienced in evaluating the opportunities of each site, masterplanning, design coding, defining frameworks and 'visions' for development sites, and writing up Design & Access Statements. Plus, the odd Appeal.
I'm passionate about making great Residential and Mixed-Use developments. It's not a challenge where a prestigious location or setting of a site permit higher value materials or details - I regard it as an incredible luxury when I'm involved in this type of scheme - but I achieve greatest satisfaction in those everyday modest development sites which might, a few years ago, not have seen much in the way of Design, and certainly would not have made any contribution to localism and community, to a better environment. People deserve Urban Design in their lives - they might not know what it's called, but they recognise its presence, and its absence. That's why I'm an Urban Designer.
Way back when, I've been Proposals Manager at Mowlem, Engineering Technician, Graphic Designer, and Schoolteacher.
And in my private life, I'm fanatical about promoting localism, tradition, national identity, & supporting local businesses (mostly pubs) - usually through folk sessions and Morris Dancing. Yes, I have my own tankard.
