Duncan McLean

Duncan is an Urban Designer and Chartered Landscape Architect. He joined LUC in 2001 and was appointed Director in 2019. Based in the LUC Glasgow office Duncan has delivered many of our prestigious urban design, masterplanning and public realm projects. He often leads LUC input where we work collaboratively as part of large multidisciplinary teams. His key skills include:

  • Landscape Design & Environmental Improvements

Duncan is comfortable working at a variety of scales from strategic design studies to detail design and construction. He is thoughtful and thorough in his approach to design, producing creative but viable design solutions.

He is a talented and experienced designer validated by numerous awards; most recently he won a Scottish Design Award in 2018 for leading the Claypits Masterplan project on behalf of Scottish Canals.

Duncan advocates ‘Placemaking’ and urbanism principles in all aspects of his work, and he represents the Landscape Institute on the Glasgow Urban Design Panel.
