Dan Crane

For me Urban Design acts as an ideological and professional fulcrum to many other professions and areas of learning related to the built environment. I am particularly passionate about street design and how we can use space more effectively to create places that people want to enjoy, whether they are staying, or passing through. I feel that many more places can be a little bit more 'Barcelona/Copenhagen' , relevant to their context. Also, the juxtaposition between Placemaking & Culture is also pivotal

My experiences since joining Active Travel England in late 2022 has enabled me to make a positive impact on planning applications throughout England and I cherish the work I undertake in the Planning team. I possess over 12 years urban design, planning, project/ programme management experience for various local and regional authorities both in England & Australia. I love creating, whether using my computer, tablet or my trusty sketch book...I am also passionate about sharing knowledge and encouraging learning, reflective of 14 years spent as a teacher in South Australia & London.
