Telford Millennium Community, Ketley

A prestigious site, one of the government's flagship millennium communities, conceived to promote the ideals of future living. The scheme promotes innovative building technologies, increased economic and social self-sufficiency, high urban design standards, and sustainable development principles.

The 40-hectare Millenium Community at Ketley, just outside Birmingham, consists of 850 dwellings of affordable housing live/work units, a new primary school, offices, and retail and leisure services.

IDP Group has been commissioned to design the three remaining phases of the 'Masterplan', originally conceived by John Rowland Urban Design. Following on from precedents set by the earlier phases, house-types are contemporary and focus on a variety of brickwork styles.
