Nazeing Glass Works

Nazeing Glass Works proposals consist of 5,000 sq.m of modern, flexible commercial office and light industrial floor space with 230no. residential apartments on the 2.9-hectare application site. Located predominantly within Flood Zone 3, with a small area to the south of the site within the metropolitan greenbelt, the existing character of the site itself is industrial, and it is comprised of numerous factory and warehouse structures associated with the Nazeing Glass Works.

The key design considerations highlighted; the efficient use of the brownfield site whilst providing high-quality employment space which is easily accessible. The design proposes multiple layers of public and resident amenity spaces including secure resident podium garden and pocket parks located throughout the site. The design typology takes inspiration from the current industrial archetypes of the Glassworks, combining a playful and contemporary design form with traditional materials that respects the character of the site.
