Houghton Regis Place Shaping

A landscape and public realm led ‘place shaping’ strategy for the historic market town of Houghton Regis in Central Bedfordshire.

Through adopting a holistic and overarching approach, the study identifies varying aspects that would assist in fostering a particular sense of place and identity, including;

• The integration of existing and proposed communities.

• Access, movement and connectivity.

• The existing town centre, heritage, leisure, education and employment offerings.

• Public open spaces and green infrastructure.

• Regeneration of existing residential areas.

Completed alongside landscape architects, The terra firma Consultancy and CBC's Place team, the study also identifies a series of action areas as the basis for further consideration as potential development and open space opportunities.
