Abbey Street Masterplan
The first of nine transformational sites within the Ennis 2040 Economic and Spatial Strategy, the Abbey Street Masterplan focuses on creating a new public realm oriented retail destination - one that is connected, competitive and creative in the historical heartland of Ennis Town, Co. Clare, Ireland.
VHA Architects fully recognised the prime opportunity which the future Abbey Street site presents, and fully acknowledged the importance of responding to context - particularly the heritage, historic, archaeological, cultural and landscape values and assets of the masterplan area. The Abbey Street Masterplan, supported by a bespoke suite of urban design led placemaking principles and a Vision, provides an integrated and coordinated approach for the development of the site. was prepared as a tool kit to assist and guide Ennis 2040 DAC in creating the future Abbey Street site as a robust, safe and memorable place and destination.
The Masterplan was led and delivered by VHA Architects (urban designers, masterplanners, architects and planners) and supported by a multi-disciplinary team of civil, transport and structural engineers, ecologists, archaeologists, landscape architects, and economic consultants.
