Head of Urban Design: PR+I, Urban Design and Master Planning
LSH are looking for the right candidate to lead our urban design team, We are seeking an experienced, strategically minded and results-driven practitioner to lead and grow our national urban design offer. This client facing role will help develop and deliver urban design, master planning and multi-disciplinary projects of varying type, size and complexity complimenting and contributing to our other redevelopment and regeneration services presently provided. You will be based in our London office with a balance of working from home and office.
This role will lead, manage and develop our urban design services. You will work closely with other team leaders in our Planning, Regeneration + Infrastructure (PR+I) division. You will also be expected to build relationships with our LSH teams across a range of disciplines; developing and supporting projects and opportunities across the scope of our national reach. You will report to the Head of PR+I.
Your role incorporates 4 key components, with activities being aligned to the overall strategy and objectives of LSH, through active collaboration and agreement.
- Strategy: Driving the ambition and direction of the design team. Creating engagement with, and enthusiasm for this vision and purpose across LSH.
- Business Development: Identification and realisation of new short, and long, term opportunities. Encouragement and promotion of cross sales opportunities to deliver wider value.
- Operations: Delivering the here and now, supporting business delivery.
- Leadership: Positive engagement of people to nurture success, effective relationship management and engagement, effective decision making and change management.
You will bring a breadth of experience from the urban design, master planning, commercial property, planning and development sectors. There is the capacity to build up a significant portfolio of work and contribute to the services offered by PR+I.
You should have experience managing and developing complex master planning, urban design &/or architectural solutions across a range of scales for public and private client bodies.
You would be expected to have existing client relationships which you can introduce to LSH.
You will be expected to lead submissions; both for opportunities on our existing frameworks (including CCS, Homes England and ESPO), and to help us secure positions on upcoming frameworks.
You will be an experienced, strategically minded and results-driven practitioner – either a Recognised Practitioner of Urban Design, &/or a Chartered Architect, &/or Planner &/or have a body of working experience in urban design.
You must have the ability to work at a high level employing a range of drawing, written and interpersonal skills to engage, influence and collaborate with project teams and clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
You must have the ability to write fee and project bids; you will perform effectively at interview and will have the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of an established team.
It is essential that you have a high level of personal numeracy as you will be responsible for the financial control of projects that you lead. Your role will also include financial control, management of budgets, programming and forecasting.
