Chris K H Wong

Chris Wong is an Urban Designer and a Chartered Architect with over 15 years' experience in architecture, landscape and urban design. He has worked for a number of high-profile design studios since graduating from the Architectural Association in London, he is currently an Associate in the Gillespies Manchester Office, a studio tutor for Machester School of Architecture (MA Architecture & Urbanism) and has recently taken on urban design advisory role with Telford & Wrekin and Gateshead Council to support the council planning team in reviewing incoming pre-app submissions.

During his time at Gillespies, Chris has been instrumental in leading several new urban design and planning strategies across the UK. Notable projects include a new garden city in St Cuthbert’s Carlisle and a set of masterplan frameworks and design codes for Barnsley, which are now adopted by the Council. All of these projects have involved leading design and engagement workshops with key stakeholders and the community.

Chris has a thorough understanding of working within the parameters of local planning policies to realise masterplan frameworks across different scales. Living and practicing in China has also allowed Chris to gain global perspective on urbanism and future growth of cities.
