Brian Glodney

With a BSc in City and Regional Planning, a Minor in Sustainable environments from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a MA Urban Design from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, Brian’s passion rests in creating healthy, sustainable, and vibrant places and cities. At Gensler since 2007, it is this passion that Brian instills in every project that he has had the opportunity to be a part of. Ensuring this passion is equally matched with pragmatism and research is his role as a Recognized Practitioner of Urban Design - to better shepherd a dialogue about urban design and its influence in the built and natural environments.

Beyond individual project work, to which Brian brings a unique perspective and outlook, he is a core member of Los Angeles Councilmember Huizar’s Pershing Square Taskforce, a team leader for the Gensler Los Angeles Research initiatives, an active member of the Gensler Intern Committee, and a member of the office design leadership group.

Outside of the office, Brian continues this dialogue with fellow colleagues, designers, and students through ULI’s Young Leader group and APA’s Young Planner Group, as well as being a member of both the APA Urban Design and Preservation Group and aiding the Newcastle University mentor program. In addition, working with leadership at the East LA Renaissance Academy, Brian has co-led a class, now in its third year; teaching high school aged students about the planning and design process via a learn-by-doing process.

Brian has an innate ability to conceptualize a project, integrate stakeholder aspirations, and build lasting bonds and partnerships between disparate organizations and communities with the ultimate mission of securing a prosperous, healthy, and sustainable future.
