I studied Architecture at Greenwich University and registered with the ARB and the RIBA in 1993. I qualified in MA Urban Design at South Bank University 1993 that was followed by the Advanced Architectural Studies at Bartlett School of Graduates, University College London (UCL) 1996. I am qualified in MBA from the University of Hull in 2002 with a focus on the design management of major complex projects such as the regeneration of the Elephant and Castle. Prior to all that I studied Fine Arts and Interior and Exhibition Design that strengthen my creative and artistic skills.
I trained as an Expert Witness in 2010 and became a member of The Academy of Experts. I am also on the RIBA’s Experts list. I am very interested in matters arising in the contract and matters concerning the design and the statutory regulations, performance and delivery.
I achieved Certificate of Competence in Teaching at Higher Education from the University of East London in 1999. I teach urban design at the London South Bank University and I am an RIBA mentor for students from the University of Kingston and the Central St Martins.
I have 30 years of professional experience working with the corporate organisations, private developers and the public sector on diverse projects from start to completion. I have experience across all sectors from high end residential, social housing, mixed use development, transit and transport public realm improvement, education, health care, commercial, civic and town centre regeneration projects including Greenwich Water Front Transit Project, The New Providence Wharf, The Electron Towers Development, Watford City Centre Regeneration, Kings House Residential Brighton, Royal London Hospital, Ealing Borough BSF Programme, Stanhope Estate Regeneration, Marquess Estate Regeneration and many more.
I engage in design negotiation and agreement and managing client expectation, stakeholders engagement, team building for mega projects and developing major bid consortiums, competition bids and tenders, brief development, spatial audit and R&D, character studies and analysis with production of reports and development plan inputs, project business case and financial planning input, feasibility study, vision and conceptual design, strategic and logistic planning and initial programming, consultation, pre planning advice, detail design, design management and implementation, sustainability and regulatory compliance, design code and client design advice and the expert's repoprt.
I am passionate about sustainable urbanism and inclusion and diversity and community and neighbourhood development. I use lateral, creative and pragmatic thinking that balances highly imaginative ideas with best practice management and technical knowledge coupled with extensive experience from work on diverse projects. It is very important to me that the design is holistic, innovative, intelligent and sophisticated and responds to the users' evolving sense of self and spatial, socio economic and environmental awareness, whilst improving lives and standing the test of time.
I am a member of the Corporation of London Conservation Area Advisory Committee (CAAC) and a member of the Golden Lane Advisory Board (GLAB).
I was a member of Southwark Design Review Panel 2006-10 and the RIBA London Region Chairman 2009-10 and the CLAWSA President (Central London Branch of RIBA) 2006-09 and the Vice Chairman of the Urban Design Group 2004-06.
