Andrew Roberts

I became passionate about place since I became an Urban Designer for Stoke-on-Trent Council in 2002; enthused by the Potteries, so rich in history and character.  Yet many of these qualities had been eroded through demolition and poor development, along with a decline in economic fortunes.

My mission was to ensure that urban design was centre stage in any consideration for new development. I also recognised the contribution that people – their energy, creativity and resolve - had on a place.

Moreover, within my current work at Planit I.E. people and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do when addressing the requirement to ensure transformational change which engenders a sense of place.

Whether this be the large-scale regeneration of cities and towns, high street strategies, new buildings or spaces, the primary objective should always be to create better futures for the very people that use them.
