Urban Designer or Senior Urban Designer

LSH Planning, Regeneration, and Infrastructure (PR+I) are looking for an Urban Designer or Senior Urban Designer to join our national urban design team. We are involved in a wide variety or development and regeneration projects including masterplanning, the revitalization of urban areas and the appraisal of redevelopment opportunities.
Our in-house team of masterplanners are urban design specialists. We work side by side with the wider LSH team, bringing specific knowledge of development, planning and regeneration with the purpose of realising high quality, attractive and deliverable design solutions that add social and commercial value for our clients and communities.
Based in our London or Manchester Office but working nationally, you will play an instrumental role in the preparation, and design of high-profile places, where the emphasis is on the design of high-quality projects that are delivered on-time and on-budget. Working closely with the head of studio, senior colleagues, and others across the wider LSH business you will help to grow a portfolio of projects with the collective aim of broadening our expertise, growing the team, and continuing to raise our profile as industry-leading designers and urbanists.

The position can be based out of either our London or Manchester offices, on a hybrid basis.
You will be:

- Experienced in designing greenfield and brownfield masterplans, urban design studies, and design codes at different planning stages.
- Able to manage your own time, proactively liaise with colleagues, and experienced at working with leading clients.
Your will have:
- An interest in the regeneration of our town centres and urban areas.
- An ability to bring innovative, creative, engaging, and comprehensive placemaking ideas to masterplanning and design.
- A good understanding of UK planning, current trends, and issues in urban design.
- Experience of working with a wide range of technical sub-consultants including architects, landscape, and movement experts.
- A good understanding of planning policy and urban design / architectural building typology technical criteria for both greenfield and brownfield projects.
- A strong portfolio of work with a variety of projects at a range of scales.
- Excellent drawing, graphics and communication skills using freehand and computer aided design software.
- Expertise in all the main creative software programmes including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Sketchup.
- A Masters degree and / or a post graduate diploma in urban design and / or architecture preferred.
Your project experience will include:
- Design feasibility, outline application, and detailed / hybrid planning applications.
- Urban design, masterplanning, town centre regeneration, and design code project instructions.
- Experience of site promotion, greenfield extension, brownfield capacity, town centre, PD conversion, and townscape appraisal project types.
- Contributing to and preparing urban design and masterplanning tenders.
- Be able to produce comprehensive design reports, research, and presentations.
- Working as part of comprehensive design, sub-consultant, and client teams.
