Associate Urban Design

An Opportunity to join Iceni’s Design Team.

We believe that everything we do is ultimately about people, and as a consultancy operating within the built environment, we want to create great places for people. As a multidisciplinary practice, we always look to work collaboratively and seek creative solutions.

We’re looking for a dynamic and talented associate-level urban designer to join us in our lively Farringdon office. As a small but growing team, we’re looking for people who want to apply their breadth of skills across an ever-diversifying portfolio of work.

As a relatively new team, we have brought with us a diversity of experience and skills to create a next generation, creative and forward-thinking Design team. We provide a unique and compelling offer to our clients, delivering services from initial site feasibility and promotion, through to outline applications and planning success. Sound like your cup of tea? Then read on.

Why Iceni?

We’re not your average planning consultancy. At Iceni, we work on projects that matter, with people who care. We know that creating better places takes hard work, collaboration, and the occasional moment to have fun along the way. Here’s what makes us stand out:

Professional Growth: Access to mentoring, the Iceni Academy, and opportunities to work on some of the UK’s most exciting projects.

Flexible Working: A hybrid working model that supports a healthy work-life balance.

Competitive Rewards: A strong salary, discretionary bonus scheme, and 9% pension contributions.

Holistic Benefits: Health and well-being allowances, career break options, and a cycle-to-work scheme.

A Celebratory Year: Join us in marking our 20th year with team events, social initiatives, and a shared commitment to shaping the future of planning.

Role Overview.

We’re looking for a skilled and creative Urban Designer to join our collaborative Design Team at Associate level. If you care about shaping places that work for people, enjoy solving design challenges, and are looking for a role where you can make a meaningful contribution, we’d love to hear from you.

Our team is made up of passionate Urban Designers from a range of backgrounds and levels of experience. We’re united by a commitment to creating beautiful, inclusive and sustainable places.

We work across a wide variety of projects and sectors – from new residential and mixed-use developments to employment-led schemes, regeneration areas, and renewable energy projects. Our projects range from large strategic masterplans to more locally focused schemes.

We collaborate with clients including developers, land promoters and landowners. Our work covers early-stage site appraisals and feasibility studies through to masterplans, design codes, development briefs, and planning documents. Whatever the scale or stage of a project, we apply creative thinking, technical rigour, and a people-first approach to placemaking.

This is an exciting opportunity to

  • take a leading role in projects,
  • contribute to the growth of our portfolio and client relationships,
  • work in a supportive and creative environment, and
  • help shape the future of our Design Team.

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about urban design, confident working with clients and teams, and motivated to deliver high-quality outcomes. You’ll have the opportunity to influence real-world change and develop your career in a role that offers variety, responsibility and support.

We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. If you’re unsure whether you meet all the criteria but feel excited about the role, we would still like to hear from you. Associate Urban Designer, Iceni.
