Alan Baxter is an independent firm of urban designers, engineers and conservation specialists who have been engaged in the creation of exemplary places across the UK over the last 50 years.
Our current urban design work ranges from the promotion of strategic growth sites to planning applications, and from masterplans for cultural and heritage estates to complex post-industrial sites, for public and private sector clients.
We are looking for an experienced and creative Associate Urban Designer to play a leading role in our existing projects and to be actively involved in expanding our range of work and clients as we look to grow our team.
We anticipate that the successful candidate will have:
- a relevant design qualification and at least 10 years experience
- an interest in exploring the bigger picture issues affecting our towns and cities, communities and landscapes
- excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills (including use of Adobe Creative Suite and hand drawing)
- a good understanding of UK planning, design and regeneration context, policy and guidance and its application,
- experience of managing multi-disciplinary masterplanning projects,
- experience of winning new work and building strong client relationships
- a broad range of urban design expertise across town and city regeneration, residential masterplans and planning applications, site promotion, community engagement and production of local planning policy and guidance.
