Senior Manager sought for Urban Design Group
The Urban Design Group (UDG) is looking for a proactive Senior Manager (part or full-time to be agreed) to run the organisation on a day-to-day basis, manage a small team of part-time staff, help to organise and facilitate events, and work with us to deliver our charitable objectives.
You and the role
We are looking to make a senior appointment who will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a wide range of supporting activities, some of which are inward-facing such as liaising with and building our membership, resources and financial base, while some are outward-facing helping to organise and run events, and managing the website and social media. You will:
- be able to work independently and be hands-on, as we build a permanent support team;
- enjoy working collaboratively with our members, Executive Committee and Trustees; and
- be proactive and self-motivated.
A detailed knowledge about urban design is not essential, but it would be preferable to have an awareness of the built environment industry, plus an interest in promoting good placemaking. You will have at least 5 years’ relevant experience working for a charity or business, and will have been managing a variety of operations for a small/medium sized organisation with some team leadership responsibilities. Experience of growing a membership body will be an advantage.
While we have an office in London, we offer the flexibility of hybrid or remote working, with a regular presence in our London office to be agreed. We run face-to-face events, which you will be involved in, as well as online events.
Salary will be competitive, with 28 days holiday plus a 3% employer’s contribution. To discuss this role, please contact the UDG’s Strategic Director, Robert Huxford, careers@udg.org.uk (marked Senior Manager) for a call-back from one of the UDG’s Executive Board
Applications will be accepted up to 5pm on Monday 30 September 2024 by email to the above email address and marked ‘Senior Manager Application’.
