Based within Essex County Council, Place Services is a local authority traded service, which provides a wide range of specialist environmental services, (including landscape, urban Design and planning) to a growing number of planning authorities, and other public sector clients, throughout the UK.
Place Services is growing to meet the demand for our services, and we are currently recruiting for an Urban Designer Consultant to join our multi-disciplinary consultancy team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a recently Urban Designer who wants to be part of a growing team of high performing professionals working within the public sector on a diverse range of exciting projects.
The successful candidate will join our team of Urban Designers, responsible for effective delivery of a range of urban design services including:
- caseload of minor and major development management consultations at all stages of the planning/consent process;
- preparing design briefs for sites of limited scope and complexity;
- carrying out design reviews on schemes of small to medium scale and complexity;
- developing and evaluating masterplans, design guides and codes for medium scale and complex schemes;
- and completing specialists tasks as part of multi-disciplinary projects.
Candidates should be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (relevant disciplines could include Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Town Planning and Architecture-based degree) and evidence of post qualification experience. Candidates should also demonstrate good evidence of continuing professional development with Membership of, or working towards Membership of, relevant professional body e.g. Recognised Practitioner of the Urban Design Group.
