Urban Initiatives Studio are looking to appoint a Senior / Associate Level Urban Designer to help with our expanding workload of high profile and exciting projects. This is a full time position suitable for a talented, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a masters degree in urban design, architecture or town planning. Applicants should have a minimum of five years post-qualification urban design experience in a relevant practice environment.
We are looking for somebody to manage and deliver a range of high profile commissions, engage with clients and stakeholders and lead small project teams. You will work on a range of projects, at a variety of scales, ranging from site capacity studies, town centre regeneration projects, residential masterplans, character and tall building studies and strategic design guidance. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the preparation of tenders for future work.
In order to be considered for the role you will need to demonstrate:
- A creative approach to urban design and masterplanning
- Strong analytical and conceptual design thinking
- Excellent organisational skills
- A professional approach to client management
- Project management experience
- A good understanding of the UK planning and development context
The successful candidate must share our passion for urban places and our Practice Ethos. Excellent command of written and spoken English, good graphic skills (Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign) and proficiency in 2d and 3d cad softwares such as Vectorworks, Sketch-up and QGIS are essential. The usual (post-Covid) place of work is Farringdon in Central London. Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
