Woman threatens to sue council over 20mph limit proposal
The women claims that her car, a BMW, is not designed to travel at 20mph, and will seek compensation from Lancashire County Council if a 20mph limit is introduced.

There is little prospect of this woman's case succeeding: there needs to be proof of injury or loss caused by 20mph limits, and there is none; quite the reverse. Secondly there needs to be some basis in law for an action, and again there seems to be none.
It is a little surprising that there has been little legal action over the effects of vehicle use; for example the slow uptake by vehicle manufacturers of pedestrian safety features on vehicles such as compressible vehicle fronts, pedestrian air bags; or public nuisance litigation over high speeds in urban areas.
