New San Jose civic group focused on urban design

A new civic group in San Jose hopes to improve the city's aesthetic and cultural quality by advocating for better architecture, more urban street design, interesting public spaces and convenient transportation hubs.

It is based on the successful model of the 102-year-old San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Association, whose progressive work over decades in that city is thought to have improved the level of its urban living.

This would seem to be an ideal model for local authorities in England wishing to embrace a positive interpretation of neighbourhood planning.
