Localisation of food production has limited effect on carbon dioxide emissions

If all produce consumed in Santa Barbar County was grown in the county (100% localization), it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the agrifood system  by less than 1%,  Emissions from direct transport of food are a relatively small component of agri-food production emissions.
