Panel Members - Bristol Urban Design Forum

The Architecture Centre is currently recruiting new panel members for the Bristol Urban Design Forum due to an expanded role and growing demand.

We are looking for experienced built environment professionals to join our panel providing expert reviews of major schemes in Bristol.

About BUDF
The Bristol Urban Design Forum (BUDF) is a group of design and environment professionals who offer free, independent consultation on significant development proposals in the city, leading to recommendations for improvement and added value. BUDF also advises Bristol City Council on urban design policy.

Established by Bristol City Council in 2007 and managed by The Architecture Centre Bristol, the BUDF operates as an independent body and follows the model of design review panels promoted by Design Council CABE.

Our panel consists of leading practitioners in all the built environment disciplines: architects, landscape architects, urban designers, engineers, transport planners, sustainability experts, developers. We have a mix of highly experienced professionals and emerging talent. We are both expanding our panel and refreshing it to reflect the growth and changes in the mix of our work. Although not essential, previous experience in design review is desirable, but a strong interest in the subject is essential.

A typical Panel is composed of at least five experts appointed by the Architecture Centre and varies with different experts forming the panel on each occasion.

BUDF meets up to 10 times a year but can also be convened to meet the particular needs of the development timetable .

BUDF does not make decisions on planning applications, but its advice will be taken into account by the Council’s officers and the Planning Committee when it is considering applications.

If you are interested in becoming a panel member please send your CV and a covering email to by 11 August.
