Opportunity for Urban Designer / Masterplanner
Geddes Consulting is one of the leading development consultancies in Scotland. We mainly promote proposals for major mixed use settlement expansions and residential developments. We work with developers, national house builders and the public sector.
We are seeking to appoint an Urban Designer / Masterplanner to become part of our multi-disciplinary team of urban designers, landscape architects and town planners.
The preferred candidate will have a background in urban design and masterplanning, including the creation of concepts and layouts, mainly for residential and mixed used developments. You must also have a proven track record in producing written and illustrated work to support site appraisal and design concepts.
You will have the opportunity to work within a small and dynamic team where you will be involved in a variety of project work. You will work closely with other in house members of the design team and planning consultants as well as other members of the wider project team.
Working on projects for leading house builders and land developers, our masterplanning activities involve the preparation of masterplan proposals for applications for Planning Permission in Principle, including the preparation of Design Statements and development framework reports to support representations to development plans.
Our goal is to make our clients’ masterplanning outcomes understandable and transparent to key stakeholders, taking into account planning policy requirements.
Key skills required are:
  • A good team player who is comfortable working and liaising with other disciplines;
  • An excellent communicator who can work with others in the project team to meet project budgets and deadlines; 
  • Capable in written, oral and graphic presentation;
  • Proficient in the following software - Microsoft Office; InDesign; Vectorworks (or AutoCad); Adobe  Photoshop;
  • Full UK driving licence.
The preferred candidate needs to be a qualified Urban Designer (or a relevant equivalent qualification), with a minimum of three years post qualification experience in residential led developments.
Salary is negotiable and will be dependent on the experience of the candidate. The company provides an annual bonus, 35 days annual leave (including public holidays), pension scheme, and private health insurance.
