PO5: Starting salary £43,503 rising in annual increments to £46,347 pa incl LW plus market supplement.

Lambeth Planning invites applications for a Principal Urban Designer post within its Conservation & Design Team. 

Lambeth is a vibrant inner London borough with a significant range of heritage assets from good Regency and Victorian housing through to iconic 20th century buildings including internationally renowned London landmarks such as the Southbank Centre, Lambeth Palace and Brixton Markets.  The borough is proud of its rich culture, history and heritage and at the same time is forward looking with two Opportunity Areas and areas where high-density, tall building development is being encouraged and coming forward at a pace.  This is an exciting time to work within the borough with a great variety of projects and proposals coming forward and which calls for conservation and urban design excellence at all levels within the team.

The successful candidate will bring their previous experience in the urban design field to the master-planning of a wide range of schemes.  They will also be required to advise the Council on the design merits of major developments and use their negotiation skills and good working knowledge of contemporary building construction / design practices to deliver design excellence through to implementation stage.  An eye for detail will be required.  The candidate will also be required to take a lead role in the creation and running of a Design Review Panel for Lambeth.

The post’s salary currently attracts a market supplement currently set at 7% per month.
