About the role

We are recruiting for an Urban Design Graduate to join our Regeneration team at Kingston. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of people across the borough to help shape its built environment.

About you

For the Urban Design post we’re looking for someone who can combine enthusiasm, drive and creativity to push projects forward. Finding the right people to build our staff team is critical to our future success. We’re therefore looking for an enthusiastic person who has the ability to think creatively, work flexibly and has excellent interpersonal skills to help form productive relationships with people at all levels.

You’ll need to have good communication and negotiation skills with the ability to put your ideas across clearly to colleagues and customers - both in person and in writing, and you’ll need to demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively in order to work on a number of projects simultaneously.

You can expect a lot of variety as our team work on a number of projects across council from Master planning to detailed design, supporting and advising to leading change. We have strong growth and co-design agenda which will be transforming the borough in new collaborative and exciting ways. There are opportunities for additional training and we'll teach you all you need to know to succeed in this role, giving you a solid grounding in Urban Design and for you to gain a real understanding of this varied role in the public sector.

Previous experience of working in a similar role isn't required but you should have a degree in Architecture, Landscape, Planning or Social Sciences with a keen interest in Urban Design and the built environment. It is beneficial for you to be able to communicate ideas through drawing and have knowledge of CAD (2D and 3D) and Adobe Creative Suite skills.

If you think you have the right skills, capability and attitude to work with us on this exciting journey, then we want to hear from you.
