Overview of Greater Cambridge:

It’s an exciting time for built environment professionals working in the Greater Cambridge area.  With a combined population of over 285,000, covering 364 square miles, our planning services receive over 3000 applications a year and generate an income of £4 million. Greater Cambridge, comprising Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire District Councils, is one of the fastest growing areas in the UK for growth and is recognised as an outstanding place to live, work and visit. Main purpose of the job;

As Principal Urban Designer you will be required to provide professional urban design advice on major development schemes and infrastructure, and negotiate the delivery of high quality places on behalf of the Council with particular focus on Northstowe, Waterbeach, Bourn Airfield, Cambridge and its major extensions.

You would also be required to offer advice, develop and deliver appropriate design/place strategies, tools, initiatives, assessment methodologies that lead to the creation of distinctive and high quality places.
