The Post

The draft Brent Local Plan sets out the council’s ambitious vision for delivering good growth up to 2041. We are looking for a creative and experienced Urban Designer to ensure that this good growth and regeneration is delivered through the application of high-level expert urban design skills. We are serious about creating well designed high quality places and we want to hear from people passionate about urban design who can realise this important council objective.

Brent is one of the most dynamic inner-outer London boroughs, and we want to maximise the opportunities that growth will bring for both new and existing communities.

You will provide input into strategically important planning applications, masterplans, site allocations and planning briefs as well as draft any relevant supplementary planning documents that will deliver objectives of the Local Plan.

You will be working alongside award winning teams in the Regeneration Department.

The Person

You will have a positive can do approach to work recognising the important role urban design plays in ensuring the council delivers good growth and positive change for all Brent’s communities.

Providing expert high quality urban design advice and input into masterplans, site briefs, pre-applications and planning programme agreements and making a noticeable improvement to the public realm of the borough are key parts of the role. The post holder has the ability to build relationships across service areas (internally & externally) and drive effective community engagement will be important.

You will have a Postgraduate degree in a subject closely related to urban design or spatial planning.
