Administrator - Urban Design Group

£21-24k pro-rata depending on experience

The Urban Design Group is a membership charity open to all who care about the quality of life in our cities, towns and villages and believe that raising standards of urban design is central to its improvement. We offer our members a range of benefits including regular events and networking opportunities, along with an annual Conference and Awards. We also promote and support a number of initiatives promoting the importance of good urban design.

We are a small friendly team based in Cowcross Street in Farringdon with a committed Executive Committee which meets on a monthly basis and an Editorial Board which delivers the highly respected journal, Urban Design, on a quarterly basis.

We are looking for a part time administrator to work to the Manager and Director. The role is varied and would best suit some one with a muck in attitude and a willingness to be flexible. Like most administrative roles a lot of the work requires attention to detail and accuracy but there are also opportunities for more creative thinking.

We are currently working towards delivering our National Urban Design Conference in late September with the continuing theme of Making People-Friendly Places. We also plan to revitalise our website and other social media platforms in time for conference, making more of our resources and collective expertise so that the organisation, our objectives and goals are more visible to the benefit of both our members and the built environment - the places we all live, work and play.

Duties will include:

  • Day to day office administration duties
  • Membership enquiries and support
  • Aiding in updating process documentation (how we do things and why)
  • Basic website administration (training given but some experience useful)
  • Helping with marketing, social media platforms etc
  • Support and running of evening events as required
  • Helping to organise and support at Conference (will involve an overnight stay)

This is initially a part time role, equivalent of three days a week (hours can be arranged across 4 days if desired). There is also some flexibility for a proactive person who can demonstrate their value in a full time role. Salary £21-24k pro-rata depending on experience.

We understand this may be a transitional role for some applicants and we are willing to consider a minimum 6 month commitment to the post for an otherwise fully engaged individual.

Please send your CV and covering letter to using the subject UDG - Administrator. Please include what you think you can bring to the role and why you might enjoy it.

Deadline 19 May - we will start interviewing candidates of interest as and when we recieve applications
