The National Urban Design Conference is a celebration of energy, ideas and goodwill open to anyone from any background who cares about the way we design our towns and cities, streets and spaces.

It exists to provide a place where all professionals, politicians and decision makers involved in the design of villages, towns and cities can meet, exchange latest best practice, and share concerns.

This year's annual confernce focuses on the particular issues faced by cathedral and university towns and cities, country and market towns:

  • Leadership and Governance: the role of authorities, land owners, developers, house builders and the local community in delivery
  • Movement and Public Realm: inclusive mobilty, improving visitor experience
  • Development and change within the town: redevelopment, conservation areas
  • Development and change outside the town: greenfield, urban extensions, satellites, expanding villages

Conference will be followed by the Conference Dinner at the Cathedral at 7pm to which everyone is welcome.

For early arrivals there's the ever popular Urban Design Fest, a free evening event with buffet and cash bar at the Guildhall Winchester, on Thursday 20 September 6.30-9.30 pm.

For those staying over on Friday night there are tours of the Cathedral and City on the Saturday morning.
