Improving streets: transformative results: Altrincham has gone from having the
highest shop vacancy rate in the UK, to being voted the 2018 best place to live in the
North West. The recent public realm scheme has made Altrincham streets more
walkable and more inclusive, with measurable benefits.

Influencing Travel Behaviour: Encouraging more people to walk, cycle and use public transport.
The presentation will draw upon the results from several studies
into ‘personal travel planning’ including national DfT research and recent local East Midlands evaluations.

Healthy Streets and Places – A Code for Councils
Connectivity requires people being able to get from their front door to where they
want to go… and it affects us all. Launch of Code key statutory duties, common law
duty of care, core government guidance, and reference to professional codes of
conduct. Streets and Connectivity require all council departments to work together.
