Barreiro in Portugal, is a place that faced significant decline in industry and then population. Whilst it has many positive attributes - location on the Tagus Estuary, direct ferry link to Lisbon and potentially charming historic fabric - its stalled regeneration to date will now need to also consider additional constraints related to health concerns and the likely economic downturn.

Within our ideasSPACE webinars we are starting a new series: 'Regeneration Stories' will focus on specific places where considered approaches could redefine how we attempt to bring new life to our towns and cities.
