6.45 Densifying the Suburbs - Superbia

Dr Riette Oosthuizen Partner, Planning, HTA

Supurbia is a strategy for intensifying Londons suburbs that balances their inherent advantages with higher density and amenity value. Its approach is twofold: redeveloping local main streets and parades as mixed-use places with increased housing, improved service and amenity provision; and, enabling owner-occupiers to develop their land, creating rich diversities of housing.

7.05Development beyond Londons sphere of economic influence - Colchester Metro Town

Tim Pharoah, Independent Consultant

Colchester Metro Town is a proposal to create high quality and genuinely sustainable settlements linked by existing railway infrastructure - an underused £2billion asset, and to introduce a more European approach to housing and transport planning. The development would complement London, not be dependent on it, or be a mere dormitory.
