The National Conference on Urban Design 2014 will explore the crucial importance of multi-disciplinary working in the built environment. It will explore how the various players - urban designers, architects, planners, engineers, developers, politicians and communities - can all work together effectively to create better places to live.

From over 50 international abstracts received we have assembled a programme which features a diverse range of fascinating presentations representing the latest research and case studies. Delegates will have a unique opportunity to share best practice and develop a broader professional and personal network.

The conference will include sessions on:

  • Positive Planning
  • Housing and New Development
  • Health and Inclusion
  • The future Shape of Cities - Technology or Tradition
  • Housing and Regeneration
  • Communities and Engagement
  • Ground-breaking research findings on what house builders think about urban design

Alongside a full day of keynote and workshop sessions on Friday 19 September, we also have a variety of fridge events on Thursday 18 and Saturday 20 September including walking tours, site visits, networking sessions, a river cruise, education symposium and the UDG Annual Dinner, this year held in the majestic setting of the Nottingham Council House.
