What are the key ingredients for creating a workable, walkable city? This event will consider best practice for encouraging walking as part of a healthier lifestyle, plus the latest in way-finding and systematic assessment of walkability.

UDG Chair Paul Reynolds will open the event with an introduction onThe Walkable City the book by Jeff Speck upon which the event has been based. He will then hand over to three speakers looking at various aspects improving the walkability of cities.

  • Tom Platt from Living Streets- Making London a World Class City for Working

Tom will set out the Living Streets vision for London, highlighting the key issues that will help London to meet its potential as a world beating walking-friendly city. Tom will cover Living Streets' activity and campaign work in London and recent Mayor of London vision documents to explore how these might shape the walking environment in London over the next 10 years.
